Skin elasticity improvement
One randomized, placebo-controlled trial in 69 women aged 35 to 55 (23 per group) found significantly better skin elasticity after 8 weeks at both 2.5 g and 5.0 g a day compared with placebo. A 4-week follow-up after stopping suggested some effect lingered, mainly in the older participants. This is a single study, and its published abstract describes the tested material as collagen hydrolysate composed of specific collagen peptides rather than naming VERISOL.
Eye-wrinkle volume reduction
Not supported by any reference on this page. Eye-wrinkle volume was not an outcome in the single study cited below, which measured skin elasticity, moisture, water loss and roughness. A separate wrinkle study is described further down the page but is not in the reference list.
Dermal collagen density (not measured in the cited study)
Not supported by anything cited on this page. The single referenced trial did not measure dermal collagen density by ultrasound. Fibroblast activation is a proposed explanation, not a finding from that study.
Nail brittleness (no supporting citation on this page)
Uncited on this page. Nail growth and breakage were not measured in the one study listed in the references, so nothing here backs a nail claim. Note also that brittle-nail research is done in people who already have that problem, which says nothing about what to expect if your nails are fine.
Cellulite appearance reduction
Uncited on this page. Cellulite, skin smoothness and dermal density were not outcomes in the single referenced trial, which ran 8 weeks and looked at skin elasticity, moisture, water loss and roughness.
Bioactive peptide signaling mechanism
This is a manufacturer explanation, not a finding from the study cited here. Gelita says the peptide sizes were selected by screening so they act on skin cells. The referenced trial measured skin properties only and did not test any mechanism, and no cited study compares this peptide profile with an ordinary collagen hydrolysate.
Combined skin support with vitamin C
Your body needs vitamin C to build collagen, so getting enough of it is sensible generally. No study cited on this page tested collagen peptides with and without vitamin C, so any extra benefit from combining them is unproven here.
Mechanism of action
Di/tripeptide absorption with intact bioactivity
Proposed, not shown by anything cited here. The idea is that some collagen peptides survive digestion as two- and three-amino-acid fragments and enter the bloodstream. The single referenced trial took no absorption measurements, and no cited study compares this product with other collagen hydrolysates.
Fibroblast stimulation in dermis
A proposed pathway: absorbed peptides are thought to reach the deeper layer of skin and prompt fibroblasts to make more collagen, elastin and proteoglycans. This comes from laboratory work, not from the human trial cited on this page, which measured skin surface properties rather than these molecules.
MMP inhibition (matrix metalloproteinase)
Laboratory studies of collagen peptides suggest they can dampen enzymes that break collagen down. No study cited on this page measured these enzymes in people, so treat this as background biology rather than a proven effect.
TGF-β1/Smad pathway activation
Cell and animal research points to TGF-beta1 signaling as one possible route by which collagen peptides could affect skin. Nothing cited on this page tested this pathway in humans.
Hyaluronic acid synthesis regulation
Collagen peptides are proposed to influence hyaluronic acid production in skin. Important caveat on hydration: in the only study cited on this page, the moisture and water-loss results showed up in a subgroup analysis and, in the authors' own words, failed to reach a level of statistical significance. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects
Some laboratory studies report anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity from collagen peptides. Nothing cited on this page tested that in people.

Gelita controls its hydrolysis process to produce a particular mix of peptide sizes. That is a company description of manufacturing, not a research finding. As reported, wrinkle volume around the eyes fell by roughly 20 percent at 4 and 8 weeks, with higher procollagen type I and elastin measured in skin samples. Important caveat: this study is not among the references listed on this page, so these figures cannot be checked against the citation record here. Treat them as manufacturer-reported until a verifiable citation is added.
