Immunell is a branded ingredient from the French supplier Nexira. It is a yeast extract (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) standardised to 60 percent nucleotides, supplying all four bases (adenine, cytosine, guanine and uracil), carried on acacia gum. No published study has tested Immunell itself, and Nexira's own product page cites none. The human evidence comes from other nucleotide products: small randomized trials in trained adults, where a nucleotide supplement raised salivary IgA and lowered cortisol after hard exercise in one lab but left salivary IgA unchanged in another, plus infant formula studies. "Highest purity on the market" is a supplier marketing claim, not a health effect.

Benefits

Cellular Regeneration Support

Immune and gut cells divide quickly and need nucleotides to build DNA and RNA, which is the rationale for supplying them in the diet. The body also makes its own. No study has measured cell turnover or tissue renewal in anyone taking Immunell, so treat this as the reasoning behind the ingredient rather than a demonstrated effect.

Immune Response Reinforcement

The immunity bodyguard line is Nexira marketing, not a finding. What has actually been measured, with other nucleotide products rather than Immunell, is this: in two small trials in trained men, 60 days of a nucleotide supplement left post-exercise salivary IgA higher and cortisol lower than placebo; in a separate 30-day trial in 20 elite athletes funded by the product's maker, lymphocyte recovery was faster but salivary IgA did not change. None of these trials counted infections.

Gut Barrier Reinforcement

The gut lining renews itself every few days. Evidence that dietary nucleotides help it comes from animal work on villus height, crypt depth and mucosal thickness and from infant feeding: a randomized trial in formula-fed infants shifted fecal bacteria toward Bifidobacterium. In adults, the one gut trial measured irritable bowel symptoms and found about a 4 to 6 percent improvement over a large placebo response, with the diarrhoea, bloating and flatulence differences not significant. Gut barrier integrity itself was not measured, and nothing has tested the nucleotide plus acacia combination in people.

Acacia Carrier (Not a Prebiotic Dose)

The whole serving of this ingredient is 300 to 500 mg a day, so the acacia gum in it is a fraction of a gram. Human trials of gum arabic as a prebiotic used roughly 10 to 30 g a day, tens of times the entire serving. The acacia here carries the powder; it is not a prebiotic dose, and no study has tested it at this level.

High-Demand States

The semi-essential idea is that the body's own nucleotide production may fall short when cells divide fast. In adults it has only been tested around hard exercise and in irritable bowel syndrome, using other nucleotide products at amounts higher than this one. Illness recovery, growth in children and ageing have not been tested with Immunell.

Semi-Essential Nutrient Concept

Nucleotides are normally synthesized endogenously (non-essential); during high demand states (rapid growth, immune challenges, GI healing, intensive training), endogenous synthesis may be insufficient and dietary supply may become conditionally useful. This is a hypothesis built largely on mouse and infant work, not an established adult requirement.

Acacia Gum Prebiotic Synergy

Gum arabic is fermented in the colon and can raise Bifidobacterium and short chain fatty acids, but the trials showing that used 10 to 30 g a day. The fraction of a gram present in a 300 to 500 mg serving is a formulation carrier, and no study has tested the two ingredients together.

All Four Semi-Essential Nucleotides

The ingredient supplies all four bases (adenine, cytosine, guanine, uracil) as substrate for nucleic acid synthesis. No head to head study has compared a four base product against one supplying fewer, so the four base composition is a specification, not a proven advantage.

Nucleotide Supplement and Exercise Immune Markers

Randomized trial (Mc Naughton 2007, J Sports Med Phys Fitness): 30 moderately trained men split into nucleotide, placebo and no-supplement groups for 60 days, tested with a 2-minute maximal exercise bout before and after. The supplement was not Immunell.

30 moderately trained adult men, 10 per group.

After 60 days, post-exercise salivary IgA was higher and post-exercise cortisol lower in the nucleotide group than in either control group. Blood lactate, lactate dehydrogenase and creatine kinase were unchanged. Ten people per arm, a supplement that was not Immunell, and no infection outcome was recorded. A second trial in 20 athletes using a different nucleotide product found no salivary IgA effect at all.

Nucleotide-Fortified Infant Formula (Infants, Not Adults)

Randomized controlled trial (Singhal 2008, Am J Clin Nutr): infants received formula with 31 mg/L added nucleotides (n=35) or control formula (n=37) from birth to 20 weeks, with a breastfed reference group (n=44). Stools were analysed at a mean age of 20.4 weeks.

Formula-fed infants from birth to 20 weeks, plus a breastfed comparison group.

The single outcome was fecal bacteriology. The ratio of Bacteroides-Porphyromonas-Prevotella to Bifidobacterium was lower on nucleotide-supplemented formula than on control formula (mean difference -118 percent, 95 percent CI -203 to -34, P = 0.007), a shift toward the pattern seen in breastfed infants. No immune marker was measured and no infection or diarrhoea count was reported. What a fortified formula does for a newborn says nothing about what a capsule does for an adult.
