Muscle soreness and recovery after damaging exercise
In a 10-day trial, 16 volunteers put through a standardized eccentric exercise protocol had lower pain and tenderness scores and lower creatine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase and C-reactive protein on Gremin than on placebo. Sixteen people split across two arms is a very small trial, the sponsor employed the author, and the journal is not indexed in PubMed. In the larger 14-day trial, lactate dehydrogenase fell only within the Gremin group and did not differ from placebo, and C-reactive protein did not differ either. Most of the confidence behind this ingredient comes not from Gremin but from meta-analyses of generic curcumin: one pooled ten randomized trials and found lower creatine kinase, lower soreness scores, better maximal voluntary contraction and better range of motion after damaging exercise, and a second found lower creatine kinase and lower soreness scores.
Endurance: the walk test improved, push-ups, squats and VO2 max did not
The 14-day trial in 55 moderately active adults measured four endurance outcomes. Six-minute walk distance rose 14.8 metres on Gremin against 0.8 metres on placebo, a statistically significant difference but a small one for people already covering about 559 metres. Push-ups (21.5 percent versus 2.5 percent), squats (9.1 percent versus 3.4 percent) and estimated VO2 max (3.8 percent versus 1.5 percent) all favoured Gremin numerically, but the paper reports none of them as significant, either within groups or between them. The percentage figures that circulate in trade advertising are those non-significant within-group changes. Total fatigue score on the Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory did fall further on Gremin (18.8 percent versus 1.9 percent), though the general fatigue, physical fatigue and reduced activity subscales showed no change in either group.
Pain and inflammatory markers after eccentric exercise
The 16-person, 10-day trial reported lower pain and tenderness scores and lower C-reactive protein on Gremin than on placebo at several time points after eccentric exercise. That is a genuine placebo-controlled result, but sixteen people split across two arms is a very small trial, the manufacturer funded it, and the journal is not indexed in PubMed. In the larger 14-day trial, C-reactive protein did not differ significantly between the Gremin and placebo groups. No published absorption or blood-level study shows that the co-processing delivers more curcumin or chlorogenic acid than plain extracts, so the bioavailability part of this claim is unsupported.
Mechanism of action
Dual polyphenol anti-inflammatory synergy with BioFusion bioavailability
Chlorogenic acid (from green coffee) inhibits NF-κB nuclear translocation and reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine production (TNF-α, IL-6), while curcumin simultaneously inhibits COX-2 enzyme and 5-LOX leukotriene production. These two complementary anti-inflammatory pathways together provide broader inflammatory suppression than either alone. The composition of the BioFusion carrier is not disclosed by the supplier, and no absorption or blood-level study comparing Gremin with plain green coffee or curcumin extract has been published, so the improved-stability and improved-absorption claims attached to this ingredient rest on the maker's description rather than on data. The suggestion that combining the two polyphenols gives broader inflammatory coverage than either alone comes from cell and animal work and has not been tested head to head in people.

2022 trial: 16 healthy, moderately active, non-smoking volunteers with no known musculoskeletal pathology, dosed for 10 days around a standardized eccentric exercise protocol. 2024 trial: 60 randomized and 55 completing (29 on Gremin, 26 on placebo), healthy moderately active men and women aged 30 to 60 in Bengaluru, India, taking 500 mg once daily for 14 days; the DEXA body composition sub-analysis covered only 12 people per group.
2022 trial: Gremin lowered standardized pain and tenderness scores at several post-exercise time points and reduced C-reactive protein, creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase against placebo. 2024 trial: three outcomes beat placebo, namely 6-minute walk distance (up 14.8 m versus 0.8 m from a baseline near 559 m), non-dominant handgrip strength, and total Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory score (down 18.8 percent versus 1.9 percent). Push-ups, squats, estimated VO2 max, dominant-hand grip strength, C-reactive protein and lactate dehydrogenase showed no significant difference between the groups. The 1.4 percent lean-mass gain often quoted for this ingredient was a within-group change in the 12-person DEXA subgroup that did not separate from placebo, and the 21.5 percent endurance figure is likewise a within-group change from a comparison the paper reports as non-significant. The 35.5 percent strength figure is the within-group gain in non-dominant grip only, in one hand of the two tested. Both trials ran under 15 days, were funded by the maker, and have not been repeated by an independent group.
