SynForU-HerCare is an oral probiotic blend from Synbio Tech of Taiwan of six dairy-isolated lactobacilli strains (L. plantarum, L. helveticus, L. rhamnosus, L. paracasei, L. fermentum and L. delbrueckii), marketed for vaginal and urogenital comfort. Its human evidence is one placebo-controlled trial in 78 pregnant women in Malaysia with a diagnosed vaginal yeast infection, reported in three papers. Every woman also used a 3-day clotrimazole vaginal suppository, so the blend was tested only alongside an antifungal drug. Over 8 weeks, the main abstract reports less irritation, discharge and burning and better daily-life scores on the blend, but a later review lists separate P values for each group and placebo also improved, so a benefit over placebo is unclear. The registered main outcome, how often the infection came back, has no published numbers per group. Synbio Tech supplied the capsules and placebo.

Studied Dose Two capsules a day, each 9.5 log CFU (about 3.2 billion CFU), so about 6 billion CFU a day, for 8 weeks in pregnant women who also used a 3-day clotrimazole suppository. The registry lists 10 log CFU a day; the maker lists 6 billion CFU a day.
Active Compound Live freeze-dried cells of six lactobacilli isolated from dairy: Lactiplantibacillus plantarum LP115, Lactobacillus helveticus LA25 (earlier identified as L. acidophilus), Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus LRH10, Lacticaseibacillus paracasei LPC12, Limosilactobacillus fermentum LF26 and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. lactis LDL114, with maltodextrin as the carrier in the trial capsules. A 2026 review lists the strains in a 3:3:3:6:1:3 ratio in that order. LDL114 is deposited as BCRC 910518 in a Synbio Tech patent, whose abstract also lists an L. acidophilus (BCRC 910494) and an L. plantarum (BCRC 910519) deposit without strain codes; deposits matched to the other five strain codes were not found.

Benefits

Vulvovaginal comfort scores in pregnant women

In 78 pregnant women with a diagnosed vaginal yeast infection, all given a 3-day clotrimazole suppository, irritation, discharge and burning scores fell on two capsules a day for 8 weeks. The abstract words this as compared with placebo, but a later review lists separate P values for each group, and placebo also improved by week 8, so a difference between groups is not confirmed.

Daily-life and emotional well-being scores during pregnancy

In the same trial, the abstract reports less concern about symptoms and less disruption of daily activities on the blend at weeks 4 and 8, but a later review lists these P values separately for each group. Fewer recurrences of emotional and social stress than on placebo are also reported, and sexual impact did not differ. All women also used clotrimazole.

Registered main outcome: how often the infection returned

The trial registration names recurrence over 8 weeks as the main outcome, and the paper title and the maker say recurrences fell. The abstracts give no recurrence counts per group, and the full paper could not be read. A pooled analysis of pregnancy trials of various probiotics found no significant effect on clearing vaginal yeast infections.

Vaginal lactobacilli and yeast levels

In swab samples from the same trial, Candida glabrata fell in the lower vagina on the blend but not on placebo, and Candida albicans and C. glabrata kept falling over 8 weeks in the upper vagina. L. crispatus rose over time on the blend and fell on placebo; these are changes within each group, and fewer women were sampled by week 8. These are laboratory counts, not symptoms, and both groups used clotrimazole.

Vaginal and gut bacteria balance during pregnancy

On placebo, the upper vaginal flora shifted over 8 weeks, with fewer Lactobacillus and more Prevotella and Atopobium, and gut Firmicutes fell; on the blend these profiles stayed unchanged. Bacterial profiles are markers rather than felt outcomes, and they come from the same 78-woman trial with clotrimazole co-treatment.

Bowel movement frequency in pregnant women

The abstract reports more bowel movements per week on the blend than on placebo at weeks 4 and 8; the full paper could not be read to confirm how this was tested. This was one of several questionnaire outcomes in the trial, and constipation itself was not a main outcome.

Mechanism of action

1

Strains selected for adhesion and hydrogen peroxide

According to the trial authors, the six strains were patented for women's health in Taiwan and China because in laboratory tests they stuck to HeLa cells, a human cervical cell line, and made hydrogen peroxide, which inhibits urogenital microbes such as Escherichia coli, Candida albicans and Gardnerella vaginalis. This is lab work, not human evidence.

2

Vaginal inflammation markers

In swabs from the pregnancy trial, the pro-inflammatory signal TNF-alpha rose on placebo, while the need for the anti-inflammatory signals IL-4 and IL-10 fell over time on the blend, which the authors read as a shorter period of inflammation. These are marker results from one trial with clotrimazole co-treatment.

3

Gut-vaginal axis, with no strain tracking

The blend is swallowed, and the proposed route is through the gut to the vagina. The lactobacilli that rose in the vagina, L. crispatus and L. jensenii, are not in the blend, and the papers read did not report whether the six product strains themselves reached the vagina.

Clinical trials

SynForU-HerCare With Clotrimazole in Pregnant Women (8 Weeks)
PubMed

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial at Universiti Sains Malaysia and Ministry of Health clinics in Kelantan (NCT03940612); two capsules a day of SynForU-HerCare (9.5 log CFU per capsule) or maltodextrin placebo for 8 weeks, and every woman also used a clotrimazole 200 mg vaginal suppository for 3 days; products supplied by Synbio Tech, which is listed as a collaborator, and no author lists a Synbio Tech affiliation; the same trial also appears in two microbiota papers. (Ang et al. 2022, J Appl Microbiol)

78 pregnant adults at 14 to 32 weeks with a confirmed vaginal yeast infection (39 per group).

The registered main outcome was recurrence over 8 weeks; the abstract states recurrences fell but gives no counts per group, and no registry results are posted. The abstract reports lower irritation (P = 0.023) and discharge (P = 0.011) from week 4 and burning by week 8 (P = 0.046) on the blend, worded as compared with placebo. A 2026 review instead lists separate P values for each group (irritation 0.032 vs 0.067 at week 4; at week 8 irritation below 0.0001 vs 0.001 and discharge 0.002 vs 0.005), so placebo also improved and a direct between-group test is not confirmed. Concern about symptoms and daily-activity scores follow the same pattern. More weekly bowel movements were reported on the blend, and sexual impact scores did not differ. Adverse events are not reported in the abstracts or the Microorganisms full text.

Side effects and drug interactions

Common Potential side effects

The papers read here do not report adverse events or birth outcomes from the 8-week pregnancy trial, so safety in pregnancy has not been shown by any source independent of the maker. Ask your obstetrician before use.
Weakened immunity or serious illness: NCCIH notes that the risk of harmful effects from probiotics is greater in people with severe illnesses or compromised immune systems. Use only with medical advice in these situations.
The strains were isolated from dairy and the trial capsules used maltodextrin as a carrier; check the finished product label for allergens and other ingredients.
Vaginal itching, discharge or burning, especially in pregnancy, calls for a clinician's evaluation; in the trial the blend was taken alongside a prescribed antifungal, not in place of it.

Important Drug interactions

Antifungal treatment: every woman in the only trial used a 3-day clotrimazole 200 mg vaginal suppository, so the blend has been studied only with an antifungal drug, not instead of one. Do not skip prescribed treatment.
Immunosuppressants and chemotherapy: NCCIH notes a greater risk of harmful effects from probiotics in people with compromised immune systems; ask the prescribing clinician first.

Frequently asked questions about SynForU-HerCare™ (Women's Lactobacillus Probiotic Blend)

What is SynForU-HerCare used for?

It is a six-strain lactobacilli blend that Synbio Tech markets for vaginal and urogenital comfort. Its only published trial, in 78 pregnant women who all used a clotrimazole suppository, reported improved symptom and quality of life scores on the blend and steadier vaginal and gut bacteria than on placebo over 8 weeks, but a later review lists the symptom P values separately for each group, so a difference from placebo is not confirmed. Recurrence numbers are not given in the abstracts.

What is the recommended dosage of SynForU-HerCare?

The trial used two capsules a day, each about 3.2 billion CFU (9.5 log CFU), for 8 weeks, about 6 billion CFU a day. The maker lists 6 billion CFU a day. Follow the product label.

Is SynForU-HerCare safe during pregnancy?

The only trial enrolled pregnant women from 14 to 32 weeks, but the papers read here do not report adverse events or birth outcomes, so safety in pregnancy has not been shown independently of the maker. NCCIH notes a greater risk from probiotics for people with severe illness or weakened immunity. Ask your obstetrician before use.

Can SynForU-HerCare replace an antifungal treatment?

No trial has tested that. In the only trial, every woman used a 3-day clotrimazole vaginal suppository and the blend or placebo was added on top, so the results apply to use alongside treatment, not instead of it.
