Spirumune® is a branded spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) ingredient sold for immune support and rich in the blue pigment phycocyanin. No published human trial has tested Spirumune itself. The evidence here comes from two small studies of generic spirulina: a pilot study in adult women with HIV in Cameroon who were not receiving antiretroviral treatment, and a study of anemia and immune markers in older adults. In the pilot study of women with HIV, spirulina was linked to improved antioxidant capacity measured in blood. That is a laboratory measurement in a small patient group, not proof of a health outcome, and no study of Spirumune itself has been published.
